Its shit.
There are KKK people on my screen. They're going to burn Tommy :("

You won't claim many scalps with this. Dandruff, maybe, but not scalps.

bugger-all, as usual.

This is one of the first icons I ever made.

ironman.gif
I thought: 'I know, I'll do an icon of that Iron Man. He was well cool!' So I tried it out quickly but it wasn't exactly impressive.

irongiant.gifMore details needed obviously. A close-up of his face perhaps. I tried google images but it was all modern crap. Turns out what I'd been remembering was The Iron Giant - based on the Ted Hughes Book. Not Iron Man (though of course that song is now stuck in my head.)

irongiant-small.gifGreat. Now to get it down to icon size (15px by 13px for b3ta). But...

Hm... fail.

of pure SCIENCE!

This was designed to be seen on a non-white background. There are white bubbles rising up the neck of the bottle and spilling over the side - but you won't be able to see them here. Oh dear.

painkillers are fun, kids

// // Comments (0) // TrackBacks (0) //---
I put this into the icon mini-challenge at b3ta a while back. It was picked to be one of the donation icons - and it's still available. It's always nice when I spot someone on the board who's chosen to use it as their icon.

It's been two years since I made this little animation. I'm still waiting to hear from one of the big games companies with a multi-million pound offer for the concept - Idos or Electronic Arts, say - and yet they still haven't picked it up. Well, more fool them. When I made this there was a fair amount of bombing and burning going on in the name of religion and this seemed, well, apt. It raised a laugh at least, and made the front page of b3ta.com. I made up the layers in photoshop and then put them through imageready to animate it. If you click on the thumbnail up there the full-size version should play in a popup (spit spit).

banner schmanner

// // Comments (0) // TrackBacks (0) //---
I made a banner for the header of this site. You can see a bit of it up there, but it hasn't shown up quite how I'd expected.

Bumholes.

Have a look at how it was meant to be. Clicking gets you a bigger version in a popup (spit spit).

A recent entry in the icon mini-challenge at b3ta.

I also put it through ImageReady to animate it. Animations aren't eligible for the competition, but it didn't take long and it just seemed wrong, somehow, not to make the lightning flash.

One of them Ay-rabs

// // Comments (0) // TrackBacks (0) //---

A little while back I made some tiny icons for the icon mini-challenge at b3ta.com. They're all 15x13 greyscale icons. Every now and then the b3ta folk choose some to be used as donation icons. I'll post a few up here over the next few days.

arab.gifDurn, it's one of them ay-rabs!

spotter's guide

Thumbnail image for spottersguide.jpg
Well it's been a while. I've been busy though. First I made 32 pixel-art portraits of people over at b3ta.com. I used Pixen v3.0 to make the portraits, each of which was just 30 x 26 pixels. They were based on photographs that people had online. For a while these pixel portraits were an end in themselves, but today I had the idea to put them together in this guide. I used InDesign to knock up the PDF and used some very basic data from people's profile pages on b3ta to make some short entries about them to go with the pictures. I took a while, but I enjoyed it. And it was good practice at using InDesign, which I like quite a lot.
